Mi 8 Launched With Infrared Face Unlock, Snapdragon 845

The flagship smartphone Xiaomi Mi 8, which has been part of the headlines for several days, was launched on Thursday. Chinese company Xiaomi unveil this handset at its annual product launch event. According to the expectation, Xiaomi Mi 8 came with premium specification and feature.

Xiaomi Mi 8 Powered by latest Qualcomm Snapdragon 845 processor, two rear cameras of 12 megapixels, infrared face unlocks and a 20-megapixel selfie camera. A Mi 8 Explorer Edition has also been launched, which comes with exclusive features such as 3D Face recognition, In-display fingerprint sensor, and Transparent back.

The company also launched the Xiaomi Mi 8 SE smartphone as well as the Mi Band 3 and MIUI 10 in this event.

Xiaomi Mi 8 Price & Availability

The price of Xiaomi Mi 8 starts at 2,699 Chinese yuan (around 28,600 rupees) for 6 GB RAM and 64 GB of storage variant. 6 GB RAM and 128 GB storage variants will be sold in 2,999 Chinese yuan (around Rs 31,600).

The price of 6 GB RAM and 256 GB storage variants is 3,299 Chinese yuan (around Rs 34,800). The smartphone will be made available in White, Gold, Light Blue and Black colors. Mi 8 Explorer Edition has 128 GB inbuilt storage with 8 GB RAM. Its price is 3,699 Chinese yuan (about 39,000 rupees).  Pre-orders for the smartphones open today, with sales starting on June 5.

Dual SIM Xiaomi Mi 8 handset runs on MUI 10 It has a 6.21-inch full-HD + (1080×2248 pixels) Samsung AMOLED display. with an aspect ratio of 18.7: 9, 88.5 percent screen-to-body ratio, and support for Always On display. Qualcomm Snapdragon 845 processor has been used in the smartphone.

It has been claimed that the phone has a score of 301,472 in the AnTuTu Benchmark Test. RAM has two options – 6 GB or 8 GB. Let’s say that 8 GB RAM is just for Explorer Edition.

Now Come to the camera department, The dual camera setup is on the rear positioned is like the iPhone X. The smartphone has two sensors of 12 megapixels which are equipped with features such as 1.4-micron pixels, 4-axis OIS(Optical Image Stabilization), dual-pixel autofocus, AI portraits, AI scene detection, and video detection.

Xiaomi claims a DxOMark photo score of 105. Xiaomi Mi 8 has a 20-megapixel camera for the selfie and video calling on the front panel, which is equipped with F  2.0 aperture, 1.8-micron pixels, AI portrait selfies, and beautify. There is three Variant for storage – 64 GB, 128 GB, and 256 GB. The smartphone will work with 3400 mAh battery.

Xiaomi Mi 8’s connectivity features include 4G VoLTE, Wi-Fi (dual-band, 2.4GHz, and 5GHz), Bluetooth 5.0, NFC, Dual-band GPS(with L1/ L5 signal support, said to be the world’s first phone with this feature), Rear mounted Fingerprint Sensor and USB Type-C Port.

Mi 8 Explorer Edition has an in-display fingerprint sensor. Other sensors on board both include an accelerometer, gyroscope, infrared, barometer, digital compass,  ambient light sensor, and a proximity sensor.

The Mi 8 measures in at 154.9×74.8×7.6mm, and weighs 175 grams. There is a 3400mAh battery in this variant. The Mi 8 Explorer Edition has almost similar features, yet weighs somewhat more at 177 grams. It also bears a smaller battery, at 3000mAh. both smartphones support Quick Charge 4.0+, however, deliver with a standard 18W Quick Charge 3.0 charger.

Xiaomi also unveiled Mi Meng avatars like Apple’s Animoji. Xiaomi’s Mi Meng avatars can capture up to 52 facial muscle movements and will not only imitate your expressions but also your voice.
